We have not received this item…we tried to contact the distributor, but they have not responded to our inquiries. I will not order from them again!!!!
It’s got to be tough to write episodes for a long-running series, and I can’t blame the writers of Monk for running low on steam. That being said, this season of Monk contains more clunky episodes, cheap laughs at the expense of character, and just generally cringe-worthy moments than all the previous seasons combined. The nadir is probably “Mr. Monk and the Genius,” in which a mediocre murder plot gimmick causes the writers to make Monk give up his integrity, followed by a deus ex machina resolution that would have been better written by a 10-year-old.
There are still joys to be found here, though: “Mr. Monk Takes a Punch” features a perfectly-timed gag featuring Disher, Stottlemeyer, and a suspicious mobster, there are very nicely-placed tribute endings to the late Stanley Kamel and two departed characters in “Mr. Monk Buys a Home,” “Mr. Monk and the Magician,” and “Mr. Monk Fights City Hall,” and “Mr. Monk and the Miracle” features several delightful scenes (“we make our own gravy” is destined to become a household reference) including what is almost certainly the first murder denouement recited as Gregorian chant.
The Monk series at its best combines good mystery, character, and comedy writing. While this season has flashes of all three, it very rarely gets them all in any single episode. Here’s hoping the series gets its second wind for the final season.
we are truly monk lovers so we were thrilled to be able to buy season 7 and it was delivered within days because that is the way that amazon does things, thank you so much, vivtomjr.
I received my product in good condition and was happy with the DVD. It was not damaged in shipping. I am satisfied.
Just a great show with good plots and sound acting! I just wish they could back Sharona, if only for a background part.
